ATOM Martial Arts is certified to teach students the following blend of martial arts under Jeet Kune Do Concepts banner. See our instructor certifications.
jeet kune do
Founded by Bruce Lee and then developed after his death by his senior student and friend Dan Inosanto, Jeet Kune Do (JKD) uses principles and concepts rather than styles in order to develop the attributes of the individual.
Such principles include interception of attack rather than blocking and countering, and the ability to flow from any range and use any body part against the nearest available target.
JKD emphasises the development of the individual and ultimately allows them to find and develop their own way from a blend of different arts.

jun fan gung fu
Founded by the late Bruce Lee, Jun Fan Gung Fu incorporates elements of the Wing Chun Kung Fu system which Bruce Lee modified, and utilises various training methods such as trapping, energy drills, and wooden dummy forms.
Jun Fan Kickboxing incorporates elements of western boxing combined with the kicking methods from other martial arts systems.
Combining drills which feature punching, kicking, trapping, take-downs and grappling and use equipment such as focus pads, allows the student to escape static drilling, encouraging unrehearsed movements which are more likely to be encountered in combat.
Jun Fan Gung Fu is also an excellent method of aerobic and muscular endurance conditioning.

grappling
The art of clinch and ground fighting. The type of grappling studied takes its form from a number of systems. Combining pins, escapes, arm bars, leg locks and chokes from Greco Roman Wrestling, Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Silat and Kali. Occasionally, this can also incorporate striking simultaneously.
Our form of grappling does not necessarily always end up on the mats, it can be applied from a standing position, ideal for control and restraint purposes.

kali
A comprehensive art addressing all ranges of combat, Filipino Martial Arts combines both weaponry and empty hand methods.
Weaponry used includes single stick, double stick, single knife, stick and knife, staff and flexible weapons. These weapons may be translated into normal everyday items such as a rolled up newspaper for self-defence purposes. The student learns the various angles of attack and this then assists in practising disarms and counter techniques.

panantukan
Panantukan is the empty hand area of Kali, and is often referred to as 'Filipino dirty boxing'.
Similar in structure to western boxing but without the sport limitations, Panantukan allows the person to use all elements of the upper body and targets may include eyes, groin and nerve points. The system also incorporates the disturbance of an opponent's body balance and manipulation of their limbs.

silat
Silat is the collective term for a class of indigenous martial arts from South East Asia.
Maphilindo Silat (Malaysia, Philipines, Indonesia) is a blend of the arts from those regions which has been adopted.
The style incorporates the disturbance of an opponent's body balance and manipulation of their limbs, with graceful movements and ground based defence and fighting tactics.
